Included are press cuttings about the deposition, exile and reinstatement of King Mutesa, letters Messel wrote to the British press and influential figures expressing support for King Mutesa and photographs from a trip taken by Messel to Buganda to witness the signing of the agreement following King Mutesa's reinstatement. Also included are financial papers relating to Messel's personal finances and his financial involvement in Caribbean Enterprises Limited, a company set up to provide local employment in Barbados by manufacturing roofing tiles and building material from bugasse, a byproduct from sugar cane processing.
