TitleDictionary of Victorian Architects
DescriptionPaul Joyce planned to publish a Dictionary of Victorian Architects with Professor J. Mordaunt Crook but the work was never brought to fruition.

These index card contain entries on Victorian architects, draughtsmen, topographers, engravers, artists and craftsmen, arranged by name. Some entries are very basic, containing one or two lines, e.g. bibliographical reference to an obituary in The Builder; others run to several cards and list all known works. The number of cards per name (if more than one) is recorded in brackets.

A small section of the index cards details significant buildings in London, largely designed by Christopher Wren, as well as a few in other parts of the UK.

Joyce kept a second sequence known as the 'expanded' index [see PRJ/6/5]. It contains significant architects not found in this sequence.
